The Engine
This is how the engine was last time the car ran. I will go into some details as to how it will be in the future further down.
- Upgraded steel CT26 with T04e wheel, 50 trim I think it was.
- Metal Headgasket - unknown origin, it was on the engine when I bought it to replace the previous one
- Front mounted VR4 intercooler (pic)
- 2" intercooler piping, mandrel bent, ceramic + powder coated blue w/ metallic flakes (pic)
- 3" intake piping, ceramic + powder coated blue w/ metallic flakes
- 3" steampipe/stainless downpipe, ceramic coated, exhaust wrapped and aluminium taped (pic 1 - pic 2 - pic 3)
- 8"x5" K&N air filter, located in the front guard (pic)
- 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, with 2.5-4" straight through rear muffler, and 2.5" straight through Toyota resonator (stock)
- Relocated AFM to post turbo - I did this when I believed the AFM measured air mass, which is constant throughout the system. However I have since discovered it measures volume, which changes when the air is compressed. Don't know why it worked, but it did
- 0800 BRAKES/Race Brakes Kevlar clutch disk with heavy duty pressure plate
This is a picture of the engine, as it is now. It wont be getting this turbo anymore, it's destined for the MR2
So, the future plans for the engine
- Gen 1 3SGE side entry intake manifold, with TVIS removed and port matched to head (pic 1 - pic 2 - pic 3)
- Turbo will probably be the ceramic CT20B currently on the SW11
- Intercooler will be 450x300x75mm bar and plate, although I may go for a 600 wide one instead
- Intercooler piping will probably be 2", although this will be dictated by the turbo
- May get an aftermarket computer, such as a link, because the enginebay has been deloomed and installing a stock ECU now will be tricky
- Headgasket may be redone with ARP studs
