We bought this on a bit of a whim not long after getting the Cressida. Cost us $400, deregistered with a blown headgasket, and not running. Conveniently it was already at a tow yard as it had been towed away from the previous owner's house due to being parked illegally on the road with no registration.
When we got it home, we put a battery in it, some petrol and after a bit of cranking it started. This thing was really weird to drive and felt like it weighed about 5 tonnes (which isn't too far off it's real weight!). It was quick to start overheating though, and not long after getting it started it was apparent the big ends were stuffed too. On removing and stripping the engine I found that the headgasket was fine, but the block was stuffed. Looks like someone cleaning off the old headgasket in the past had taken a big chunk out of the mating surface, about 2mm deep. Shortly after, we came across a Blue GA70 with no motor, which we ended up buying. This wasn't deregistered (saving us from the time and expense of re-registering it), had quite a few nice extras, and was facelift, so we decided to put all the running gear from this car into the GA70 (see the story of the GA70 to find the outcome of this). The guy selling the GA70 also had a completely rebuilt 7MGTE block, which we gladly purchased for $300.
This car ended up being the source of a lot of income, all up we made over $1000 on top of the purchase price of this in parts.
